Eunuchs protest in Peshawar against murder of friend in Nowshera

PESHAWAR, 16 August: Eunuchs in Peshawar staged protest demonstration against the murder of their friend in Nowshera on Tuesday night.

The protesting eunuchs gathered in front of Peshawar Press Club and chanted slogans against the provincial government and police. They also lighted candles to remember their slain friend, Adnan.

Farzana, who was leading the protest, told media persons that it was second incident of murder of eunuchs this year, while the provincial government has been failed to provide security to them. Farzana demanded the government to provide security to them.

“We are target of constant torture and highhandedness. Some of our friends have also been killed, but no action has been taken against the killers. The situation cannot improve unless action is taken against the killers. We are illiterate people. We cannot file applications of such incidents. The government should come to our rescue,” Farzana told TNN.

Seventeen-year-old eunuch Adnan, hailing from Mardan, was shot dead by armed men in Nowshera two days ago. Two suspects, Abid and Aamir, have been arrested by police while further investigation is in progress.
