PESHAWAR, 19 September: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan has approved establishment of 1,395 Information Technology (IT) laboratories in the government schools of the province.

The minister granted the approval while chairing a meeting of Education Department officials in Peshawar on Monday. Atif Khan said the establishment of these IT labs will cost Rs4 billion and the project will be completed within six months.

Mr Atif said modern education is incomplete without IT education that is why the provincial government is equipping the government schools with modern IT labs. The minister said 1,340 IT labs have been established in the government schools of KP during the last four years. He said the government will set up 2,735 IT labs in government schools before the completion of its five-year tenure. He said students will attend regular IT classes in the labs during morning shift, while other people may also attend IT programmes at these labs on affordable rates in the evening shift.
