JAMRUD, 28 October: Seventeen parents in Jamrud sub-division of Khyber Agency, who had earlier refused to administer polio vaccine to their children, have now agreed to vaccinate their children.

These parents agreed to cooperate with the polio vaccination teams in the future after a Jirga (meeting) with the political administration officials on Tuesday. The local elders played an important role in persuading these parents to hold a meeting with the political administration officials on the issue.

Political Agent Saiful Islam and Political Tehsildar told the refusing parents at the meeting that polio vaccination is essential to save their children from the crippling disease. The parents assured the political administration to administer polio drops to their children in the future campaigns.
