Over 1m Tribal Families To Get Free Health Facilities Under Sehat Sahulat Programme

PESHAWAR: Sehat Sahulat Program is offering free health facilities to more than 1 million families of newly merged districts,” said Dr Riaz Tanoli, Head of KP Sehat Sahulat Program while addressing civil societies convention on Wednesday.

The KP ombudsperson Rakhshanda Naz, Dr Maryam Bibi, Chief Executive, Khwendo Kor, Zaheer Khattak, Executive Director, United Rural Development Organization, Dr Khalid Masood, Director, LRH and representatives of more than 70 Civil Society Organisations from across KP participated in the convention.

Dr Tanoli informed the participant that under the Sehat Insaf Program, a medical cover worth Rs 720,000 per annum will be available to all the national identity card holder families of the tribal areas. The facility can be availed at any hospital of the country, on the panel of the program. The tribal people, who have not yet received the cards, can also avail the free health facility through their national Identity cards until they are issues Sehat Insaf program cards.

This treatment of illness such as delivery, accidental wounds, fire incidents, heart diseases, diabetes and dysfunction related to heart, liver, lungs and kidneys except transplants can be availed under this program. It was clarified that no cash payment will be made to any family in case of not availing medical facilities; however, an admitted patient will be given Rs 1,000 for three times in a year in terms of transportation.  Besides this, if a patient passes away during treatment at any of the hospitals, the grieved family will be given Rs 10,000/- for the post-death procedure.

Chief Executive of the Khwendo Kor, Dr Maryam Bibi appreciated the provincial government for providing such wide-ranging health facilities to the tribal families who were deprived of basic facilities of life since the creation of Pakistan. “This is a remarkable initiative, however, I believe, a lot more to be done by the government for the uplift of tribal people,” she added.
