PESHAWAR: Two members of Hazara community were shot dead in Quetta on Saturday.

Police said unidentified armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on a shop at Jamaluddin Afghani Road, killing two Hazara men on the spot. The victims were identified as Jaafar and Khan Ali, residents of Alamdar Road.

The assailants escaped from the scene after the attack. The bodies of the victims were taken to the Civil Hospital in Quetta. Law enforcement agencies personnel reached the site of the incident and initiated investigation.

Police said the attack appeared to be an incident of targeted killing. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Saturday’s attack happened just six days after a similar attack killed two Hazara community members in Quetta on 22 April.

Attacks against Hazara community members have increased recently in Balochistan.
