MIRANSHAH: Three persons, including two militants, were killed, while one security personnel sustained injuries in firing incidents in North Waziristan tribal district on Friday.
Sources said a security personnel was injured when militants opened fire on the security forces during a search operation in Manzarkhel area of Dattakhel tehsil. The injured security personnel was identified as Wasim Ashraf. The security forces retaliated and killed two militants.
The security forces cordoned off the entire area after the incident and launched a search operation. However, no details were available about any arrest in the search operation.
In a separate incident, unknown miscreants opened fire on a moving vehicle in Eidak village of Mir Ali tehsil due to which one person was killed.
The local police said the incident was the outcome of old enmity. Police arrived at the scene and initiated investigation.
A day earlier, the body of a person, who went missing 12 years ago in North Waziristan, was found at a road construction site.
TNN correspondent reported that construction work was continuing on Garyum Road in Razmak sub-division when the labourers found a body of a person who went missing 12 years ago. Local police said the said person went missing from Mir Ali area of North Waziristan. Police said the name of the person is Muhammad Salam, son of Kabal Din, who belonged to Khushali village of Mir Ali sub-division.
On February 25, the security forces killed a ‘high-value’ target during an intelligence-based operation in Tiarza area of South Waziristan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the suspect was identified as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Nooristan alias Hasan Baba.
On February 23, the security forces killed a terrorist commander involved in killing of four female aid workers in North Waziristan.
According to ISPR, the security forces conducted an IBO in Mir Ali upon confirmation of presence of terrorists. During exchange of fire, terrorist commander Hassan alias Sajna of TTP Hafiz Gul Bahadur group was killed. The military’s media wing said the terrorist commander was involved in killing of four female aid workers in Mir Ali on February 22.
On February 22, four women aid workers were killed, while their driver was injured in a firing incident in Mir Ali.
