PESHAWAR: Two soldiers embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Miranshah area of North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Serves Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out in Spalga village. The martyred soldiers were identified as Havaldar Tajbar Ali, 38, resident of Swat, and Sepoy Rashid, 22, resident of Parachinar, Kurram tribal district.
The security forces cordoned off the entire area and conducted a search operation. However, there was no word about any arrest.
Militants were driven out from the tribal districts in military operations, but still terrorists sometimes attack the security forces from their leftover hideouts. The security forces also conduct IBOs after receiving credible information about presence of militants to ward off any threat of attacks.
On September 13, four terrorists, including a commander, were killed near the inter-district boundary of North and South Waziristan in an IBO.
The ISPR said the IBO was carried out in Ghariom, Shaktu area in which four terrorists, including terrorist commander Ihsanullah alias Ihsan Sanray, were killed.
On September 12, a soldier embraced martyrdom in a remote control blast in North Waziristan. The soldier was on routine duty Land Muhammadkhel when a remote control blast happened on the roadside.
On September 07, six terrorists, including a highly wanted commander, were killed in an operation by the security forces in North Waziristan.
According to ISPR, wanted terrorist Wasim Zakaria along with his five associates were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Mir Ali area. It said 10 terrorists were also arrested during the operation. On September 06, two security personnel, including an officer, were injured in an attack by militants in the same area.
On September 05, three terrorists were killed in a clash with the security forces in South Waziristan. Sources said a clash happened between the security forces and terrorists in Kaskai area in Sarwakai tehsil. The terrorists opened fire on the security forces and in retaliatory fire three terrorists were killed.
On September 03, three soldiers, including an officer, embraced martyrdom and four others were injured when they were attacked with an improvised explosive device in North Waziristan.
