CHITRAL: Another teenaged girl in the Terich valley of Upper Chitral on Thursday committed suicide, bringing the number of suicide cases in Chitral to 26 during the last seven months.
Mulkhow Police said the 15-year-old Khoshad Perveen ended her life by jumping into the river. The girl went missing from her house on Thursday after which the relatives started search for her. Her dupatta (shawl) was found on the bank of the river after which the locals started search for her in the river and later her body was recovered from the river. The cause of the suicide could not be ascertained.
Police said the body was handed over to the relatives of the girl after post mortem. Police said they are investigating the issue.
The people of Chitral have expressed grave concern over increasing incidents of suicides in the valley and the government’s inaction to stop this trend.
