SWABI, 22 November: Swabi-based Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) has been merged into the mainstream Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) here on Sunday. Announcement to this effect has been made during a mammoth public gathering held here. The gathering was attended by PTI chairman Imran Khan, chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak, senior minister health Shahram Tarakai, who was also the chairman of the erstwhile AJIP and other party leaders.
Addressing on the occasion PTI chief welcomed the merger of AJIP into PTI and said it would further augment the party in the province. He said the PTI-led provincial government had taken effective measures to bring ‘change’ in the province adding, “we have depoliticized the provincial police which had ultimately made it a role model for rest of the country”. He said law and order situation has changed to a great extent during PTI tenure.
Addressing the meeting, chief minster Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak announced that a sports ground would be established in the district. He also announced that Swabi-Mardan road would be made two-way.
