WANA: Three soldiers were martyred and four others were injured in firing on the security forces by terrorists during a search operation in South Waziristan tribal district on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists opened fire on the security forces during a search operation in South Waziristan in which three soldiers were martyred. The martyred soldiers included Subedar Nadeem, Lance Naik Musavir and Sepoy Saleem. The ISPR said four soldiers were also injured in the firing.

The security forces cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation after the incident. However, there was no word about any arrest.

Militants were driven out from the tribal districts in military operations, but still terrorists sometimes attack the security forces from their leftover hideouts. The security forces also conduct intelligence-based operations (IBOs) after receiving credible information about presence of militants to ward off any threat of attacks.

On August 25, the security forces foiled an attack of terrorists in Ladha area of South Waziristan and killed one terrorist.

A patrolling party of the security forces was attacked by terrorists in Masap Mela area as a result of which two soldiers were injured. The security forces in their retaliatory action killed one terrorist and arrested another one in injured condition.

On August 21, the security forces and police in their joint action in South Waziristan  foiled a terrorist plot and recovered two suicide jackets.

Upon receiving a secret information, a team of South Waziristan police assisted by the security forces conducted search operation in Ghwa Khwa area and recovered two suicide jackets.

On August 09, a soldier was injured in a remote control bomb blast in North Waziristan tribal district.

Official sources said a soldier, Asif, was fetching water from a stream in Shani area of Dattakhel tehsil when a remote control bomb exploded on him. The solider sustained injuries in the blast and was shifted to FTC Hospital.

On July 23, one soldier was martyred and three others were injured in a remote control blast on a vehicle of the security forces in Mir Ali sub-division of North Waziristan.

On July 12, four soldiers were martyred and three others were injured in a clash with the security forces in North Waziristan. The ISPR said four terrorists were also killed in the clash.
