4 soldiers among 6 injured in North Waziristan attack

PESHAWAR: As the first-ever election for the provincial assembly are underway in tribal districts of the province, unknown terrorists have attacked a security check post in Boya area of North Waziristan in which 6 persons were injured.

The injured were rushed to Miranshah district hospital where two victims are stated to be in critical conditions. After the attack, security forces cordoned off the area for the search operation to arrest of anti-state elements in the area.

While providing details of the attack, security forces said that it was a remote control bomb attack that occurred near a security check post in Tehsil Boya of North Waziristan tribal district. The officials sources added that those injured in the attack include four soldiers and two civilians. Those injured were identified as Naik Fazal Subhan, Sepoy Daud, Sepoy Sajid and Sepoy Ashfaq.

The security forces sources informed that two passersby were also injured in the attack who were identified as Usman and Farhad. The security forces have rushed to the site and cordoned off the area and started search operation.

In South Waziristan, this morning, at least three people –including two security personnel – were injured in two separate incidents. Local sources said the first incident happened in Karkanre area of Sra Rogha tehsil in South Waziristan in which two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel sustained injuries. In another incident in Shinkai area of Sra Rogha tehsil, a local person was injured in a rocket attack.

The injured persons were taken to a hospital in South Waziristan. The sabotage incidents in South Waziristan happened on a day when people of the area were casting their votes in the first-ever provincial elections in tribal districts. No one claimed responsibility for the attacks till filing of this report.

In both, South and North Waziristan, elections were overshadowed by security situation since the Khar Kamar incident on April 26. So far, terrorists have carried on a number of attacks in which several security men have been martyred.
