PESHAWAR: Four terrorists were killed, while two soldiers were martyred during an operation in North Waziristan tribal district on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces observed presence of terrorists in a compound in Mir Ali, North Waziristan.

“As soon as the troops cordoned off the area, terrorists opened fire. During intense exchange of fire, four terrorists were killed,” the military’s media wing said.

It said the slain terrorists were involved in kidnapping for ransom, extortion, fire raids on security forces and IED (improvised explosive device) explosions.

During the conduct of operation, Naib Subedar Aminullah, 42, resident of Chitral, and sepoy Sher Zamin, 24, resident of Landikotal, embraced martyrdom, while four soldiers got injured.

The security forces have recently stepped up operations against terrorists in areas near the Pak-Afghan border and several terrorists have been killed during these operations.

On Monday, three terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by the security forces to thwart an infiltration attempt by terrorists close to Pak-Afghan border in Lower Dir.

According to ISPR, an exchange of fire happened during the operation during which three terrorists were killed. The slain terrorists were identified as Abid and Yousaf Khan, both residents of Swat, and Abdul Sattar, resident of Mardan.

On January 21, the security forces during an IBO in Qaddafi area of Utmankhel tehsil in Bajaur tribal district killed two terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Official sources said the security forces conducted an operation over a secret information and killed two terrorists. According to the tip off, the terrorists were planning to move from one place to other for some terror planning. They were killed during exchange of fire with the security forces.

On January 18, two terrorists were killed, while another was injured during an IBO in Nargosa area of South Waziristan tribal district, the ISPR said.

The security forces conducted an operation in Nargosa area of South Waziristan. During intense fire, it said, two terrorists, Usman Ali and Waheed, were killed and one got injured and apprehended.

On January 14, three soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred and two terrorists were killed during two separate IBOs on terrorists’ hideouts in North Waziristan.
