BARA, 18 June: Over 40 garment factories, which were closed for the last six years, have been reopened in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan inaugurated reopening of these factories at a ceremony in Bara yesterday. The political administration officials, factory owners and workers attended the ceremony in large number.

The governor said on the occasion that other business centres in the area will also be reopened soon. He said Rs1 billion have been issued to the administration for development schemes in Bara. He said the administration will extend full cooperation to businessmen.

Over 6,000 workers will get back their jobs after reopening of these factories in Khyber Agency. The workers of these factories have expressed jubilation over getting back their jobs.

“We are very happy over the opening of factories in Bara. We were compelled to do physical labour when the factories were closed and we were rendered jobless,” a factory worker told TNN.

“We have got our jobs again. The factory owners are giving us good reward for our work,” another worker said.
