LANDIKOTAL: District Education Officer (DEO) Khyber Nisar Muhammad has said that as many as 573 teachers are being appointed in Khyber tribal district to address the shortage of teachers.

TNN correspondent reported that a ceremony was arranged at Government Higher Secondary School Paindi Lalma in Mallagori tehsil to distribute schoolbags and uniforms among deserving students. DEO Nisar Muhammad was chief guest on the occasion.

ADEO Shindi Gul Afridi, School Officers Association President Abdur Rehman, school principal Shahid Khan, vice principal Muhammad Usman, High School Lowara Mena principal Khalilur Rehman, teachers and students attended the ceremony.

The DEO said in his address that the Education Department is taking all steps to address the problems of schools in Khyber district. He said Rs440 million have been spent in the head of parents teachers council. He said free of cost books, schoolbags, furniture and scholarships will be provided to deserving students. This has been done to encourage the deserving and talented students to excel in studies and make name for them and country.

Nisar Muhammad said a lot of time of students was wasted after closure of educational institutions due to coronavirus lockdown. He said it’s time to make up for the lost time. He said the shortage of furniture in government schools in Khyber district will be removed within a week. He said he is well aware of the problems of schools in Khyber district and all problems will be resolved gradually. He also appealed to parents to make sure that their children don’t miss even a single class to make up for the lost time.

On the occasion, the DEO also inaugurated a dug well constructed with the parents teachers council funds at the school. He checked attendance of students and inspected the teaching process.

At the end of the ceremony, free of cost schoolbags, books and uniforms were distributed among deserving students.

The process of appointment of thousands of teachers is underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Advertisements have been published in different newspapers and those having relevant qualification can apply for different posts of teachers. Tens of thousands of candidates are applying for these jobs.
