PARACHINAR, 13 December: A powerful bomb explosion killed at least 25 persons and injured 65 others in Eidgah market on a busy Sunday afternoon here, official sources said.

According to eyewitnesses, the bomb exploded near the shops of used cloths when people were busy in buying secondhand warm garments for the winter season.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Agency Headquarter Hospital while the serious injured were airlifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital in army helicopters, sources in the political administration told TNN.

Local sources said the bomb was packed in a bag and was planted near a shop.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, chief minister Pervez Khattak, PTI chairman Imran Khan, Interior minister Chauhdry Nisar, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj ul Haq and other leaders condemned the terror incident and express sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.

Security forces cordoned off  Eidgah market after the blast and claimed to have arrested two suspects from the site. Parachinar is heavily populated by Shia muslims.
