PESHAWAR: Pashtun Tahafuz Movement on Tuesday announced that they would not hold public gathering on third day of Eid in Razmak after successful talks with tribal elders.

The tribal elders assured that all arrested workers of PTM would be released ahead of Eid after which PTM leadership announced calling off its gathering.

The announcement was made after a jirga that held here at the residence of former lawmaker Shah Jee Gul Afridi in Hayatabad.

Leaders of Fata Grand Alliance including Malik Khan Marjan, PML-Q leader Ajmad Khan Wazir, PTI’s Shah Farman and PTM leader Mohsin Dawar attended the meeting.

According to sources,  Ali Wazir, the central leader of the PTM, could not attend the jirga due to engagements in Dera Ismail Khan, but remained in telephonic contact throughout.

Talking to reporters after jirga was over, Mohsin Dawar said the PTM had scheduled a demonstration to protest harassment and arrest of its workers in Islamabad and elsewhere in the country. He said that they have called off their protests after assurance by the jirga that all the arrested workers would be released.

PTM leader Manzoor Pashteen, called the talks successful as it was agreed that all arrested workers would be released before Eid.

Malik Marjan said PTM leadership promised to desist from using anti-army slogans in their protests and gatherings. A new round of talks will be held on June 22 between the elders and PTM to discuss further concerns.
