PESHAWAR, 21 December: At least 90 Afghan security personnel have been killed in clashes with the Taliban militants in Helmand province of Afghanistan.
Helmand Deputy Governor Muhammad Jan Rasulyar has shared this information with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani through social media website Facebook. He said 90 members of the Afghan security forces have been killed during the last two days and the Taliban militants may capture the province anytime. He said the information given to the Afghan president about the situation in Helmand was not correct and he was kept in the dark.
The Helmand deputy governor said it will be very difficult for the Afghan security forces to regain control of Helmand if the province was captured by the Taliban. He has called upon Mr Ghani to intervene into the situation and do away with the people who are misguiding him on the situation in Helmand.
Military spokesman Muhammad Rasool Zazai refused to comment on the post but insisted that Helmand will never fall to the Taliban.
