ISLAMABAD, September 19: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday issued another notice to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members to appear on September 26 before the accountability court in connection with corruption references.
The court directed that the the summons be dispatched to the Sharif family’s London address as the former PM is in London while his daughter Maryam Nawaz, his son in law retired Captain Muhammad Safdar left for London on Monday after by-polls in NA-120 to enquire about her ailing mother.
When the proceedings commenced, NAB prosecutors informed the court that they were not allowed entry into the Sharif family’s multiple homes and had to hand the summons to the guards at each of the properties.
Besides, the prosecutor said that Hassan and Hussain have refused to receive the summons. However, PML-N leader Asif Kirmani appeared before the court and adopted the former PM and his family were in London to look after ailing Kulsoom Nawaz who was diagnosed with cancer and recovering from surgery. He told the court they another surgery was expected in couple of days and until then they cannot return.
