Police arrest man allegedly for sexual abusing four year old in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: Nowshera Police have arrested a young man allegedly for sexually abusing a 4-year-old boy in Akora area of the district on Thursday.

The police have informed that a resident of Akora Khattak registered a First Information Report (FIR) with Akora Khattak police station that his 4-year-old boy has allegedly been sexually abused by a man.  However, he could not nominate anyone in the FIR.

He further informed the police that his son went outside the home to shop to purchase Biscuits when he was attacked by the unknown person. Police, after registered the case and send the boy for medical examination to the district, headquarter hospital, Nowshera and constituted a special team to hunt down the accused.

District Police officer (DPO) Nowshera Captain Mansoor Aman also took notice of the case and directed the Station house officer of Akora Khattak Police Ismail Shah and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ihsan Shah to investigate the matter and arrest the culprit.

SHO Ismail Shah informed media that after the registration of FIR, they constituted special teams and conducted raids on different sites of the area. The SHO added that after a few hours of search, they have arrested the alleged culprit who was identified as Usma, a resident of Ayub Abad in Akora Khattak.

Police have informed that after an initial investigation, the accused has accepted his crime. Police said that further investigations are underway.

Child sexual abuse cases are being reported from various parts of the country on almost daily bases. According to unofficial statistics, in Pakistan, during the last five years, 18000 children were sexually abused and killed. However, says the study, so far only 25 culprits were granted death sentence while 11 were imprisoned for life.

Child rights activists have been demanding the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf government to implement laws on child sexual abuse. The activists believe that though police arrest the culprits however, they get released from the courts due to lack of proper evidence.
