PESHAWAR: Lawmakers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly have submitted two separate adjournment motions on the Mardan’s minor girl alleged rape and murder case in the assembly secretariat.
The adjournment motions were submitted by Pakistan People Party (PPP) leader and K-P former Minister for Mines and Minerals Development Ziaullah Afridi and Sardar Aurangzeb Nalota of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) in the assembly secretariat condemning the role of K-P Police for not registering FIR in the case and trying to it cover-up.
Nalota has given three days deadline to the K-P government for arresting the perpetrators involved in the alleged rape and murder case of a four-year girl hailing from Gujar Garhi area of Mardan. Nalota has warned that PML-N would start protests against the K-P government if the culprits were not arrested in three days.
Nalota has stated in the adjournment motion that the 4-year-girl namely Asma was rapped and then strangled to death on Sunday January 14, and her body was thrown in fields. He states that District Nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar and newspapers have reported the case as incident of rape and murder.
“The ideal police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been trying to avoid registration of FIR in the case. I request the house that the culprits should immediately be arrested and given exemplary punishment,” he states in the adjournment motion adding that if the government did not arrest the perpetrators then his party would launch protest against the provincial government.
Afridi has stated that the Kasur and Mardan incidents are both of same nature. “Human beasts have murdered the little girl after rape which is an act of cruelty and brutality,” the statement notes. Afridi who was associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and served as its minister in the incumbent government criticized the PTI and its chairman Imran Khan for doing political scoring on Zainab’s rape case in Kasur.
“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its chairman Imran Khan are making politics on Zainab’s case in Kasur while, the party has not arrested the culprits involved in the rape and murder case of a minor girl of the province,” he states adding that the Ideal, Exemplary and Independent Police of the Province has been trying to cover the issue and has not made any arrests in the case. Afridi has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits in the case.
