BATTAGRAM, 20 August: The people of Battagram district have called upon the government to give compensation and other privileges to the affectees of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

The demand was made at a Grand Jirga of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olasi Tehreek on Friday which was attended by elders from various tribes. Olasi Tehreek representatives Dr Mushtaq, Liaquat Yousafzai and Abid Zaman on the occasion briefed the participants of the Jirga over the CPEC project.

Elders at the Jirga said the people affected by the mega project should be given the facility of railway line, fibre optic, oil, gas pipelines and jobs.

The Olasi Tehreek will also organise a rally in this connection today (Saturday).
