LANDIKOTAL, November 24: The Afghan authorities closed border for every kind of movement in protest against construction work on the Pakistani side.

An administration official says it had been unanimously decided by both the countries to avoid any construction work within a distance of 30 meters around the border gates.

He added that the Afghan authorities also protested encroachments. Hundreds of people at both sides of the border kept on waiting for almost an hour. However, the route was opened after negotiations.

This was the second time that the Afghan authorities closed the border. Two days ago, the Afghan officials had blocked the border route to protest ongoing construction work on Pakistani side.

The officials said the agreement between the two countries over the issue was temporary and that parleys might take place to sort out proper solution to the problem.
