PESHAWAR, 26 September: Afghan Ambassador Omer Zakhilwal on Tuesday lauded Pakistan’s efforts for peace and normalcy in Afghanistan and said the brotherly neighbor always wanted reconciliation in Afghanistan through dialogue.

He also named a new Consular General Moeen Mrastyal at Afghan Consulate General in Peshawar.

He said that Pakistan wanted to solve Afghan issue peacefully and through dialogue, adding that it was because to diplomatic efforts that relations between the two neighbours have improved tremendously.

He said that Afghanistan shared same culture, language and values with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its people, adding that on both sides of border issues were always resolved through Jirga (dialogue).

He said that the newly appointed consular general would play his positive role to further improve Pak-Afghan relationship.

The Consular General Moen Mrastyal lauded Pakistan’s efforts for accommodating Afghan refugees and said that Afghanistan would never forget them. “We will never forget what Pakistan did for us by accommodating millions of Afghan refugees. We want to restore people-to-people and government-to government contacts in an environment of peace and friendship,” he said.
