PESHAWAR, 11 October: The Afghan security forces have claimed killing 100 Taliban militants in an operation in Kandahar province of Afghanistan.
The Afghan forces have also claimed injuring about 50 militants during the operation in the southern province bordering Pakistan on Saturday. They said the special operation was carried out in Shorabak district where the Taliban had gathered to plan capturing the district. The Afghan forces were also supported by the NATO war planes during the operation.
The officials said no civilians were killed or injured during the operation.
The Taliban attacks in Afghanistan have surged after Mullah Akhtar Mansour took over as ameer of the militant group. The Taliban militants under the leadership of Mullah Mansour have also claimed occupying several strategic locations in Afghanistan during different attacks.
