MARDAN, 6 September: A 10-member delegation of Afghan journalists visited Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan on Monday.

The delegation, which also included three women journalists, held discussions with the students of Journalism and Mass Communication Department, teachers and local journalists about responsibilities of journalists and problems faced by media persons on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border.

Afghan journalist Pukhtana Arabzai told TNN that journalists can play crucial role in reducing tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

“Bilateral relations often suffer due to irresponsible media coverage of events on both sides of the border,” she said. The Afghan journalist said media can play the role of bridge between both the countries by highlighting positive aspects of the bilateral ties.

“Both Afghanistan and Pakistan are brothers and should remain as such,” she added.
