PESHAWAR, 28 May: Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai has said that Afghanistan’s confidence in Pakistan will further increase if Islamabad completely eliminates militant centres.

Talking to a foreign news agency during his visit to Islamabad yesterday, Mr Karzai said the Afghan people are very happy with the statement Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made during his visit to Afghanistan during the current month. He said Mr Sharif during his visit gave a firm message that Pakistan’s enemy is also Afghanistan’s enemy and Afghanistan’s foe is Pakistan’s enemy.

Mr Karzai said it is yet to be seen what Pakistan does to implement its statements. The Afghan minister said confidence is building slowly and gradually between Kabul and Islamabad. However, he feared that this confidence-building process might suffer if Pakistan did not go all out against militants on its soil.
