PESHAWAR, 07 December: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Indian external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj will come to Pakistan to attend “Hearth of Asia Conference”, starting on Tuesday, confirmed Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Monday.
Talking to media persons in Islamabad Sartaj Aziz said the Afghan President will be arriving in Islamabad on Wednesday. “Besides attending the “Heart of Asia Conference”, President Ghani will also hold meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and will discuss ways to resume peace talks with Taliban,” Sartaj Aziz informed.
The conference has been organized to devise joint strategies for establishing sustainable peace in the region particularly in Afghanistan. Pakistan has also invited India to the conference, Aziz informed and said Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj will be reaching Islamabad on Tuesday. She would also be called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif besides attending the peace conference, added Sartaj Aziz.
Sartaj Aziz hoped that the meeting would provide a fresh opportunity to resume peace dialogue between the two neighboring nuclear powers.
Meanwhile, PCB chairman Shahryar Khan has also pinned hope to Sushma Swaraj’s visit, saying matters pertaining to resumption of cricketing ties between the two countries would also come under discussion.
