WANA, 03 August: The political administration and elders of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) during a grand jirga held in Wana on Wednesday have asked the non-registered Afghan refugees to leave the agency within a week.

The jirga, which was attended by members of political administration and elders of Ahmadzai Wazir tribe, warned that action would be taken against the non-registered refugees if they were found in the agency after the expiration of the deadline.

The jirga also asked the local residents who have provided shelter to afghan refugees to force them out.

Talking to TNN, Naib Tehsildar Zahid said that he could not estimate the exact number of afghan refugees in the agency but majority of them were living in Wocha Khawara and Karri Kot.

Earlier on Sunday, the political administration of Kurram Agency set a week long deadline for the evacuation of Afghan refugees from the agency.
