Afghan security forces claim killing 67 insurgents

PESHAWAR: The Afghan security forces on Friday claimed killing 67 insurgents in different operations during the last 24 hours.

Afghan media quoted the Ministry of Defense as saying that the operations were launched in Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Logar, Kandahar, Badghis, Faryab, Baghlan, Balkh and Helmand provinces. It said 12 joint offensive and clearing operations were launched and the air force carried out 12 airstrikes against insurgents’ strongholds and hide-outs.

The statement said 28 insurgents were also wounded in these operations. It said the air force targeted strongholds of militants in parts of Ghazni, Farah, Uruzgan, Helmand and Nangarhar provinces. A number of weapons and their hideouts have been destroyed in these operations.

However, there was no statement from any militant group about these claims of the Afghan government.
