PESHAWAR, 25 November: The Afghan Taliban militants killed three soldiers and captured 13 others after a military helicopter made an emergency landing in Faryab province on Tuesday.

Faryab police chief Syed Aqa Saqib said efforts have been launched to secure release of the captured soldiers. There were also reports that the captured soldiers included foreign personnel but a spokesman for foreign troops in Afghanistan has rejected these claims.

On the other hand, the Taliban militants have warned to kill all the captured soldiers if the government tried to release them through a military action.

Faryab had been a scene of heavy fighting between the Afghan troops and Taliban recently.
