PESHAWAR, 22 June: The Afghan Taliban have demanded re-opening of their political office in Qatar.

The Taliban political office head Syed Tayyeb Agha said at an international conference in Norway that the US and western powers were responsible for the Afghan conflict and first of all talks will be held with these countries. He said the Taliban have the right to use the name of Islamic Emirate and white flag for their political office. He said the Taliban will have the facility of contacting the international community with the availability of the political office.

The Taliban had earlier got permission of opening a political office in Qatar in 2013. However, the office was closed after reservations from ex-Afghan president Hamid Karzai. Mr Karzai had reservations over the name of Islamic Emirate and white Taliban flag over the Taliban office in Qatar.
