PESHAWAR, 11 December: Afghanistan’s top spy master Rahmatullah Nabeel resigned from office amid reports of differences with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani over police matters, media reports said.
Nabeel, who headed the National Directorate of Security (NDS), said he decided to step down because Afghan President had imposed certain bars on some of his policies.
On the other hand, Presidential spokesman Syed Zafar Hashmi said on his official twitter account that President Ashraf Ghani accepted Nabeel’s resignation. Hashmi further added the president summoned a high level meeting to appoint new NDS head.
Nabeel has stepped down in a time when the Taliban insurgent has increased their activities in the war-torn Afghanistan.
