PESHAWAR, 29 November: Afridian, a welfare organization, Sunday honored eight youngsters from Afridi tribe who represented Pakistan in different national and international level sports competitions.

A ceremony was held here under the auspices of Afridian to encourage the youngsters. They were awarded with prizes and certificates.

Those who were honored include soccer players Atif Afridi and Yasir Afridi. The former has represented Pakistan in different international under-15 events while the later has performed outstandingly well in a number of domestic football events.

Besides, promising cricketers Sadiq Afridi, Sahar Afridi, Saeed Khan, Ahmad and Irfan Afridi were also awarded.

Sadiq Afridi, one of the recipients while talking to TNN said he was very happy for the honor and vowed to continue his struggle to represent Pakistan in international cricket.

“I started playing cricket some 18 months ago. I have joined an academy in Peshawar and I have the privilege to go to India and play in Asia cricket tournament. I took 14 wickets during that event,” Sadiq recalled.
