PESHAWAR: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Thursday rejected the results of general elections.
In a statement, Aftab Sherpao alleged that the mandate of the people had been stolen and the caretaker government and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) miserably failed to hold free and fair elections. Sherpao deplored that Pakhtuns had already been the victims of bullets and now they have been deprived of the representation through the ballot.
He said that QWP would save the Pakhtuns from political marginalisation to keep away the genuine political leadership of Parliament, which would definitely deprive the nation of genuine policies. He deplored that the Pakhtun leadership had been sidelined.
The QWP of Aftab Sherpao managed to win only one provincial assembly seat in the general elections. Aftab Sherpao lost his seat to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate with a huge margin.
