KHAR, October 23: The Agriculture Department in Bajaur Agency has set up a machine for extraction of olive oil.

The olive oil unit is the first of its kind Pakistan’s tribal areas.

At the inauguration ceremony, Political Agent Yahya Akhundzada said there were around 1,600 plants of olive in Bajaur Agency and that the figure would double in next two years.

On the occasion, head of the Agriculture Department, Mr Rehmatud Din, said the machine would help the farmers extract olive oil from plants for free.

“We need to launch a big project to initiate growing olive plants and ultimately increase production of olive oil, which is a medicine because it helps in curing many diseases,” he added.
