DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan, who is the district monitoring officer for by-election in the district, on Wednesday issued show-cause notice to Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur for violation of election code of conduct.

According to a statement issued from the office of the deputy commissioner, Ali Amin Gandapur has been issued a notice over participation in the election campaign of his brother Faisal Amin Gandapur.

“It is intimidated that you being a federal minister have been found violating the Section 18 of code of conduct issued by the ECP, in which prime minister, ministers and other government functionaries shall not participate in the election campaign,” said the notice.

The minister has been asked to appear in person or through his attorney to explain the reasons and submit reply to the office within two days, failing which an inquiry will be initiated against him under section 234 (3) of Election Act 2017 accordingly.

The PTI had given ticket to Faisal Amin Gandapur for contesting by-election on PK-97 DI Khan. He is expected to face a tough contest from the PPP’s Farhan Afzal Dhap. The JUI-F candidate Obaidur Rehman has already withdrawn his nomination papers in favour of the PPP candidate.
