PESHAWAR, 8 October: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said on Saturday that all the non-functional schools in FATA will be made functional.
Addressing a ceremony at Edwards College Peshawar, the governor said he is well aware of the fact that some teachers of government schools in FATA are currently working abroad and also receiving salaries in Pakistan. He assured that strict action will be taken against such teachers. He said education emergency has already been imposed in FATA and all schools which were closed due to law and order or other issues will be re-opened.
According to FATA Secretariat sources, over 800 schools in FATA and frontier regions are non-functional and 44 are closed.
The governor also said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif initiated the reforms process in FATA which will be completed at all costs. He said FATA reforms are part of the agenda of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
