PESHAWAR, 30 June: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has warned of a war in the streets if he was sidelined from the party.

Addressing the party workers at Azizabad ground in Karachi on telephone from London on Monday night, the MQM chief swore that his party had no connection with Indian spy agency, RAW. Mr Altaf said RAW is an enemy of Pakistan. He said Pakistan’s enemy is MQM’s enemy. He asked the MQM activists to provide him information about any such culprits. He said anyone having any link with India will be thrown out from the party.

The MQM had been under immense pressure after a BBC report said it had received funds from RAW. Mr Altaf lamented that his statements had been misinterpreted. He said he is a patriotic person like any other Pakistani citizen.

Later, the MQM announced sit-ins over conspiracies against the party.
