CHITRAL, 9 July: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Adviser Amir Muqam conducted a visit to the flood affected Ursoon area of Chitral on Friday and distributed relief goods and compensation cheques among the affected people.

Amir Muqam was briefed by the deputy commissioner about the flood damages at his office. Mr Muqam distributed cheques worth Rs300,000 each among the families of those who lost their lives in the flood in Ursoon and said the affected families will also get Rs50,000 each from Pakistan Baitul Mal. He also distributed relief goods among the affectees and said funds will be allocated for the construction of road in Ursoon.

“We will allocate funds for Ursoon road. The biggest demand of the Chitral people is opening of Lowari Tunnel on which work is continuing day in and day out. The government spent Rs6 billion on the project last year and Rs6 more will be spent on the project this year. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will open the tunnel in March 2017,” he told TNN.
