PESHAWAR: Another lady doctor died of coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.

According to Young Doctors Association (YDA), lady doctor Khaula Jabeen was under treatment at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) for the last one month. She died during treatment on Wednesday.

The YDA said earlier the husband of Dr Khaula Jabeen had also died of coronavirus. With another death of doctor, the death toll of doctors from corona has reached 40.

The YDA says the provincial government has not provided Shaheed package to any deceased doctor’s family so far. Further details released by the YDA reveal that 1,160 doctors and 410 nurses have contracted coronavirus so far in KP while playing the role of frontline force against the pandemic. Four nurses have also died of corona in KP. As many as 1,150 members of paramedical staff and Class-IV employees working in different hospitals have also contracted coronavirus.

Latest corona situation in Pakistan

As many as 58 more people died of coronavirus in Pakistan during the last 24 hours.

According to the latest data shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 2,475 people tested positive for corona during this period after tests of 39,695 people.

The tally of active COVID-19 cases in the country is 34,537 while 435,073 people have recovered. About 5,000 recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours. At present, 2,206 corona patients are critical in Pakistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 397 more coronavirus cases and 11 deaths during the last 24 hours. The tally in KP has risen to 58,379 while the death toll is 1,638.

Gilgit-Baltistan has not reported any deaths from the virus for the sixth consecutive day.

Islamabad has reported 146 cases and one death, GB reported one case, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 15 cases and one death, and Punjab reported 654 cases and 31 deaths. The total in Punjab has risen to 137,949 while the death toll is 4,013.

Meanwhile, Balochistan recorded 30 new cases of the coronavirus and one more fatality. The provincial tally has risen to 18,148 while death toll is now 183.

The federal and provincial governments are also considering extension in winter vacations owing to the threat of coronavirus.
