PESHAWAR, October 14: Another child has been affected by polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, raising the total number of cases to 207 in the country.
The most recent victim of the crippling disease is three-month old child hailing from Terikhel area of Lakki Marwat district.
The provincial government has decided to administer polio vaccines to children through injections in Peshawar and Buner because authorities say the oral vaccines have failed to contain the disease. The scheme, if successful, will also be extended to other areas of the province.
The World Health Organisation has already imposed travel restrictions on Pakistani nationals and they now have to produce a polio vaccination certificate before travelling abroad.
