ANP demands abolition of FCR, Fata merger with KP

KHAR, 15 January: The Awami National Party (ANP) has demanded of the federal government to merge Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and grant all basic human rights enshrined in the Constitution to the people of Fata.

The demand was made in a public meeting held here in Khar bazaar on Sunday.

Senior leadership of ANP, representatives from the Fata Political Alliance and larger number of party workers attended the meeting.

Addressing on the occasion, president of the ANP, Bajuar, Attaullah Khan, Fata Political Alliance chief Nisar Mohmand and other speakers urged the government to abolish the British-era law of FCR so that the people of Fata could be liberated from the clutches of the unconstitutional and inhuman legislation.

They asked the government not to waste further time and implement the recommendations of the Sartaj Aziz-led reforms committee on Fata. The speakers said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would become the second largest province in the country.

They harshly criticized JUIF chief Maulana Fazal ur Rahman for his opposition to the proposed merger of Fata with KP. They said the Maulana did not ask about the tribesmen when they were forced to leave their houses in a state of helplessness and were passing through hard times.
