SWAT, 1 November: The Awami National Party (ANP) leader and former federal minister Muhammad Afzal Khan Lala died on Saturday night.

Afzal Khan Lala was suffering from breathing problem and he was under treatment in a hospital in Rawalpindi. The funeral prayer of the ANP leader will be offered in Swat today (Sunday) at 03:00pm.

Hailing from Bar Durushkhela area of Matta tehsil in Swat, Afzal Khan Lala got great fame after standing up against militancy. He survived several life attempts from the militants. He never left Swat even after the Taliban occupation of the area. He was awarded Hilal-e-Sjhujaat gallantry award by the President of Pakistan for his brave stance against militants.
