PESHAWAR, 13 July: Awami National Party (Wali Group) led by Begum Nasim Wali Khan and Pakhtunkhwa Olasi Tehreek have decided to jointly launch protest movement against exclusion of western route from Pak-China Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Begum Nasim Wali Khan termed CPEC as Pujab Economic Corridor because of its major share in the mega development projects. She asked the provincial government of KP to avoid supporting central government on the issue of controversial CPEC.

The protest movement would be launched by holding public rallies in Thakot and Karak districts on July 20 and July24 respectively, she said adding the movement would help create awareness among the people of KP against the western route.

The leader of Pakhtunkhwa Olasi Tehreek, Said Alam Mehsud said during the movement they would run door to door awareness campaign in the province.”We have launched the protest movement against the altered CPEC from today and we will visit each district of KP and FATA where we would be holding public rallies against it. Now the people of KP will come out of their houses for economic corridor and  get their rights by force” he revealed.

A number of projects in southern districts of KP have been inaugurated by federal government under CPEC. However, the nationalists and regional parties in KP have criticized that those projects were more advantageous to Punjab than KP.
