PESHAWAR, 2 November:  Anti-dengue walk held in Peshawar aimed at creating awareness among the citizens regarding preventive measures against dengue virus.

The walk led by district nazim Peshawar Arbab Asim started from Jinah Park and concluded at Sori Pul. A large number of elected nazims, councilors, health workers, officials of district administration and local people participated in the walk. They were carrying banners and posters inscribed with suggestions for prevention of dengue.

District Health Officer Peshawar Jahangir told TNN that a number of people had been tested positive for dengue in the district but no one had died of the virus yet.

Talking to TNN a lady councilor of district Peshawar Rabia Basir said that from today onward they would go door to door along with health workers to tell women about preventive measures against dengue.

“We will ask the women folk in houses to cover their beds with nets while sleeping and keep clean water covered in pots and tanks because dengue virus is born in clean water” she said and added that the main problem in eradicating dengue was lack of awareness among people about the precautionary measures regarding the virus.
