Court rejects plea to transfer Dawar, Wazir bail hearing

PESHAWAR:  An application has been filed with the Election Commission of Pakistan asking for the disqualification of two members national assembly – Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir – accusing them of having involvement in the anti-state activities.

The application is submitted by Chairman of Democratic Party of Pakistan Fatih Yaab Khalid on Monday. In his application, he alleged that both the MNAs from North Waziristan have violated the oath of allegiance taken before the election commission of Pakistan before the election. He further alleged that they’ve also violated article 62 and 63 of 1973 constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The applicant also asked the election commission of Pakistan to immediately impose ban on their entry into parliament as well as restrain them from participating in active politics of the country. Wazir and Mohsin have been made respondents in the petition. Dawar has been elected as MNA from NA-48 while Ali Wazir from NA-50 of North Waziristan as independent candidates during the July 25, 2018, general elections.

Last Friday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan alleged that both MNAs, Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir, are responsible for attacks on security forces in North Waziristan tribal district, where a number of military personnel have lost lives since the May 26 Khar Kamar incident. The Assistant to Prime Minister also accused both the MNAs of playing into the hands of opposition political parties.

Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar were leading the protestors who clashed with security forces on May 26 in which 13 protestors lost their lives while a number of security men were injured. Both the MNAs have been arrested and currently imprisoned in Peshawar central jail. Earlier, the Anti-terrorism court judge in Bannu has refused to grant any further remand of both the MNAs, as sought by the police and send them to Peshawar jail.
