Asad, Sarfaraz revive Pakistan’s hopes of win in Dubai Test

PESHAWAR, 10 October: Pakistan scored 198 runs for the loss of five wickets on the fourth day of Dubai Test against Sri Lanka on Monday.

Asad Shafiq was batting on 86 and Sarfraz Ahmed on 57 when the fourth day play ended. Pakistan were off to a poor start when they lost five wickets for 52 runs after Sri Lanka set them a target of 317. Sarfaraz and Asad added 146 for the unbroken sixth-wicket stand to leave Pakistan needing another 119 runs with five wickets in hand to level the two-match series.

Sri Lanka are leading the series 1-0 after winning first Test in Abu Dhabi by 21 runs.

Earlier, Wahab Riaz got four wickets for 41 and Haris Sohail took three wickets in a single over to dismiss Sri Lanka for 96 in their second innings, after they resumed on 34-5. Sri Lanka had scored 482 runs in the first innings, while Pakistan had scored 262 in the first innings. Sri Lanka decided against asking Pakistan to follow on and scored 96 in the second innings.

Pakistan hold unbeaten record in Test series in United Arab Emirates.
