PESHAWAR, November 5: The processions marking Ashura have concluded peacefully in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in the whole country.
Hundreds of thousands of people, of all age groups, staged mourning processions across the country on the day of Ashura, for which strict security measures had been taken.
In order to ensure safety of mourners, security personnel had been deployed in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and other main cities of the country.
The authorities in Peshawar say about 6000 policemen and six platoons of Frontier Constabulary had been deployed on the day. The administration had declared 20, out of 68 imambargahs, to be sensitive.
Likewise, the processions in Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, Kurram Agency, Tank and Bannu have also culminated without any disruption.
