CHARSADDA: An Assistant Sub Inspect (ASI) was martyred while two others policemen sustained injuries when unknown gunmen opened fire on police van here in Gandherai area of the Tehsil Tangi in district Charsadda on Wednesday.
The official told media that the policemen were on routine patrolling when they came under attack from unknown miscreants. Due to which an ASI, identified as Mohabbat Khan died on the spot. District Police Officer Irfanullah said that the attackers fled after the attack. Police have launched search operation in the area.
The injured policemen were identified as Tauseef and Mansoor. They were shifted to a hospital in Tehsil Tangi. The attack was carried out after a deadly attack in Lahore, where 08 people including policemen lost lives in a suicide attack.
On March, a police van came under attack with IED in Dera Ismail Khan. In which three people, including two policemen, were injured in Parowa tehsil. The police van was on a routine patrol in Parowa area, when the bomb planted on a bicycle went off.
‘Lack of graveyard space, a major issue of the city’
PESHAWAR: “Shortage of sufficient space for graveyards is on one the major issues for a city,” said Executive Director, Bint e Hawwa Peace and Development Organization Yaar Muhammad Shaheen. He added that the city has a population of 4.7 million and increasing with each day passing.
“With regard to acute shortage of graveyards,” said the Shaheen “not only for Muslims but also for minority communities, are facing great difficulties in finding places for the burial of their loved one.” He added that Bint-e-Hawwa Organization will purchase land in the district. It will be donated for graveyard purpose.
Shaheen went on to promise that they will maintain basic facilities such as electricity, water and cleanliness. The director said a 100-member committee comprising people of the city will be constituted for the proper utilization of funds for the graveyards purpose.
