BATTAGRAM, May 3: Residents of Ajmira village in Battagram district have asked the government complete construction work on a primary school in the area.

Local elders told TNN that the school had been destroyed in the 2005 earthquake, adding that the government later approved more than 15 million rupees for its reconstruction.

They, however, added that the contractor disappeared after just reconstructing the walls of the school building. They said about 400 children were currently enrolled at the school, which does not have a roof.

A local resident, Javed, told TNN, “The authorities need to place roof on the school as children are currently sitting in the open. The situation is troublesome in summers.”
